Premier Marinas is owner and operator of ten prestigious marinas located on the South Coast of the UK. Having built a great relationship with them through our roll out parking system projects, HUB Parking learnt about an event one of their team was taking part in later this year: the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge in December, 2022. Hollie Luff, Business System Manager at Premier Marinas, will be undertaking the challenge as skipper for “In Our Element” team, along with 3 other intrepid adventurers. The Talisker Whiskey Challenge is an endurance race across one of the world’s most dangerous oceans. The rowing team of 4 will be enduring: sleep deprivation, dehydration, huge calorie deficits, hallucinations, salt sores, 60ft waves and physical and mental exhaustion as they navigate one of the busiest shipping zones in the world.
They will embark on the challenge of a lifetime: 3,000 nautical miles unaided from La Gomera in the Canary Islands to Antigua in the Caribbean.
The four-person team will be rowing on and off in 2 hours stints constantly for an average of 49 days, pushing mental and physical limits – to raise awareness of Ocean Pollution.
The team are promoting and highlighting the outstanding work in this field currently being undertaken at Portsmouth University, with any proceeds being donated to support this incredible work.
The facts speak for themselves, by 2050 there will be more plastic than fish in the ocean*.
